Dikic

Ivan Dikic, PhD, professor at Goethe University Medical School received the 26th American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) award for Outstanding Achievement in Cancer Research (April 2006). Dr. Dikic is the first scientist from Europe who was honored by this prestigious recognition.

    Investment:

    Croatia joins Regional Renewable Energy Project

    Three Croatian local authorities, Split-Dalmatia and Međimurje County and the City of Labin – will join “Ener-Supply – Energy Efficiency and Sources of Renewable Energy” Project from the Transnational Eastern European Cooperation Program coordinated trough the “Hrvoje Požar” Energy Institute. The program covers 11 regional countries with 18 local authorities. It will, amongst other things, initiate implementation of educational programs on technological and economic aspects of the renewable sources of energy, generate maps of the potential renewable sources of energy as well as prepare physibility studies of the same. The most successful projects will be presented to the potential investors.

    Initiated production of medical equipment worth 3,5 million euro

    Zagreb – Instrumentaria, company for medical equipment, initiated yesterday production of the new endoprotesis of the hip and signed the contract on strategic cooperation with the Italian company Samo Biomedica Bologna worth 3,5 million euro. Contract also includes of starting of the production of the new prosthesis for the hips and knees. Prime Minister of the Croatian Government, Mrs. Jadranka Kososr, presented the opening of the production highlighting the importance of such a great step not only in the field of the Ministry of Health but for the Croatian Economy in general. The new production will open new markets for Instrumentaria, its Italian partner and their following industries in 25 EU countries as well as once again demonstrate Croatian’s capabilities and success in the field of innovation and progress.

    Foreign direct investment (FDI) increased by 34 million EUR

    FDI in Croatia in the first quarter of 2010 reached 434,2 million euro, announced the Croatian National Bank. This is more than during the same period in the year 2009, when the total FDI reached the amount of 399 million euro.

    Production program of turbines for mini-hydroelectric power plants

    In-tech Centar Company from the City of Rijeka presented in the Pakrac entrepreneurial center its program for the production of mini hydro electric power plant. It is their intention to build machinery for such a production in Pakrac or Lipik. This would be the only such production drive in Croatia.
